Hello, I'm Sophie
I believe in the power of plants to connect people to place.
I grew up in Virginia Beach, nestled where the Chesapeake Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. A childhood spent amongst trees, campgrounds, and the ocean instilled a love of the natural world. Inspired by this kinship to place, my practice seeks to connect viewers to the landscapes we as humans tend to, create, and spend time in.
My academic background is in environmental studies and I have spent the last few years working at small-scale diversified farms. As a photographer, I am captivated by the power and potential of gardeners and designers to transform space into place. I use my camera to connect with others, ask questions, and admire the ephemeral beauty of everyday life. I have always been drawn to creating a lifestyle that is respectful of people and the broader ecological community.
